Overview
Siyanda Chrome Investments (Pty) Ltd finalised its purchase of the chromite recovery business Masa Chrome Company (Pty) Ltd at Union Mine from Amplats in February 2018.
The Plant commenced operations in October 2006 where it processes the tailings from the UG2 stream. Three different products are sold namely: Metallurgical, Chemical and Foundry Grade Chrome.
Shareholding
SCI holds 49.9% and SBPM 50.1%
Production Status
MASA produces between 30 000 and 33 000 tons of chrome concentrate per month.

Overview
Union Mine is located in the Rustenburg district, 15km west of Northam in the Limpopo Province
Current life of mine extending to 2033 (based on Siyanda’s plan)
The mine consists of three vertical shafts and three decline systems, namely:
- Vertical shafts: Richard Shaft, Spud Shaft and Ivan Shaft
- Declines: 4B, 4 South and 3 South.
All declines and Ivan shaft closed in accordance with AAP 2013 mine optimisation plan with operations at Richard and Spud being retained
Shareholding
Siyanda Resources holds 85% interest in the Union Mine assets with The Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela community holding 15% of Union Mine.
